I have always had a love of food and a huge interest in nutrition, mainly through cooking but also how it helped me improve my performance with strength training. I have also learned from personal experience how powerful food can be and the impact it can have on our health and wellbeing. As a teacher of twenty years I felt I was constantly battling a huge workload whilst juggling busy family life, leaving little time for myself. Over several years of this hectic lifestyle it led to adrenal fatigue and autoimmune thyroid disease resulting in depression, anxiety, low energy levels and weight gain. I began working with a Nutritional Therapist whose recommendations had a huge impact and I eventually recovered my health. Through this experience I realised that this was what I wanted to do and I studied to become a Nutritional Therapist, to help others reach their health goals and live happier, healthier lives.
I am a graduate of the Institute of Optimum Nutrition, London and a member of BANT, the British Association of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine which is the professional body for nutritional therapists in the UK. I am also registered with the CNHC, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. As a full member of these organisations I abide by a strict Code of Ethics, provide proof of training and regularly undertake regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This allows me to stay on top of the latest research and to learn from the leading practitioners and companies in the industry so I can provide my clients with the best treatment outcome possible.
I always spend quality time with my clients, listening carefully to their story to find out about their health issues, symptoms, current nutrition and lifestyle. Getting to know a client and developing an understanding of them helps me create a personalised approach that is completely tailored to them. I believe in coaching clients and working together to improve food and lifestyle choices to restore their health and achieve a way of eating and lifestyle that is sustainable.
I work with clients on a range of health issues but my particular areas of interest include sustainable weight management, digestive health, stress management and hormonal issues.
